Flipping channels today, I actually found myself watching C-SPAN. They were showing news coverage from around the world that talked about Obama's win. France, Russia, Iran, and others all have English speaking state-sponsored news programs. All were hoping for an Obama victory.
Russians apparently believed that McCain secretly hated Russia, wanted another cold war, and blamed Russia for his time as a POW.
Iranian press see the US and Briton as the most likely countries to attack Iran because of its nuclear program, and believe that Obama won't attack. They also said that Briton typically follows the US lead, and therefore Obama's victory makes the people feel much safer about not being attacked while encouraging Iran's leadership to continue enriching uranium against the wishes of just about every other country on Earth.
The French press had the only report that was critical of Obama. The news anchor in France asked their reporter in Chicago what changes can France expect with the new Obama administration. The reporter answered that there is simply no way to answer that question right now. He explained by saying Obama has very little record in the Senate and almost no foreign policy experience at all. So France will have to wait and see what actions he takes. |

The world wanted Obama to win.
America wanted Obama to win too. Time will tell. Hopefully he will help the middle class per his campaign. |

The rest of the world wanted Obama to win because they hate us and they know he is Weak. As soon as he was elected the stock market started to tank again because anyone in business knows he is bad for the economy. Other countries like China are loving it, we will be in there debt forever now.
On the other hand I have noticed black people now talk to white people out of the blue in public where I live. It is very strange as if their insecurity has left them now. I am very happy that they have to recognize now that racism was mostly in their minds and now they have to wake up and realize it is an even playing field. _________________

One thing is for sure, he's a great salesman. His campaign ran on "change," but never had to define it any further than "not George Bush." He tapped into a feeling in all of us that politics as usual has to stop. Everyone who wanted change was able to define it any way they wanted. I thought it was a brilliant campaign until I started seeing how the world is reacting to Obama's change campaign. They were listening too, and bought it. South African reports said that Kenya is expecting even more financial aid from the US since Obama has roots there. I already mentioned what Iran and Russia are expecting from Obama. AlJazeera aired an interview with a PLO representative as they discussed what they expect from Obama. They define change as a different approach to Israel, and specifically said that they want to see the US put pressure on Israel to stop building the wall. That would be the wall intended to keep the Palestenian suicide bombers out of Israel. The journalist over there did bring up that Obama has repeatedly said that he was a "true friend of Israel," but the PLO believes McCain would have continued George Bush's policy of encouraging Israel to continue building the wall, and Obama might not.
Everyone around this country and all over the world seems to have different expectations for Obama. We'll have to see how the world reacts when he can't make everyone happy. |

Don't tell me you were in AZ when McCain gave the speech about giving up... and the crowd boo'd... are ya?
I don't think the stock market was proof of anything.

I can definately say the same about McCain too. Not the change part, but because of his constant attack ads, and no way saying anything about what he was going to do. Either in the debates, or even Palin... it was attack, attack, attack.
I think this what annoys me the most and wish for the voting to be different.
our 2 party system sucks... there isn't any way to really vote.
I had hoped that the 3rd parties could get more news recognition... but till the money driving this GTFO... it's not going to change.
money is the root of evil.. evil in our government... and why the USA had to choose the lesser of the two.
My hopes are that we actually stop sticking our damn nose into foreign policy. If they want to blow each other up... let them.
as for everything else... it's the same... I don't see it any different than McCain besides military differences and policies. _________________
